A photographer's duty

Imagine this, walking through the country and the smell of alfalfa hits your nose. Suddenly you’re taken back to the summers spent flipping bales with your siblings. You can hear the screams as you found a slithering snake startled by their abrupt discovery. Similarly, I believe that the photographs we hold nearest are those that evoke the emotion of the moment. This is the very same imagery that transports our minds back to the past in an instant.

I’m talking about that picture of you seeing your groom for the first time walking down the aisle and the nervous excitement you felt as you walked toward forever. The candid family photo with kiddos running wild while you hold your newborn baby and the pure joy you experienced. Today’s photo session will become tomorrow’s treasured memory.

And when the people you love are no longer beside you, these photos will be something that you cling to. They are a representation of the love that was once shared, the beauty of the ordinary days and the amazement of life milestones.

As a photographer, the greatest gift I can give to my clients isn’t simply beautiful photographs, there are so many talented individuals that can do that! My duty is to create an archive that will make you laugh, grin ear to ear and bring the occasional tear to your eye as you are transported back in time to that memory. At the end of the day, if I can accomplish this, then I will consider my job to be well done.

In loving memory
